Membrane of the crankcase ventilation valve (CVKG)

The diaphragm of the crankcase ventilation valve is a structural element of an automobile valve designed for ventilation of crankcase gases. The valve's task is to ensure the movement of crankcase gases and prevent their reverse movement. The diaphragm is installed in the valve and regulates the passage of gases into the intake tract. The work of the CCG consists of three stages:

• the engine is at rest, the diaphragm covers the valve cover;
• at idle there is a vacuum of the gas medium and the diffuser opens slightly;
• with increasing speed and increased pressure, the diffuser opens completely and bleeds off excess gases.

The correct functioning of the aggregate unit and the correct operation of the engine as a whole depends on the technical condition of the spare part. 

When it is necessary to change the membrane 

The membrane is a consumable part that wears out and becomes unusable during the operation of the car. One of the common causes of breakage is carbon deposits formed on the surface. It prevents the diaphragm from closing tightly and leads to jamming of the valve. A diffuser made of rubber or silicone can dry out and tear. Through a torn membrane, air enters the motor that is not taken into account by the mass flow sensor. As a result, the engine is unstable, starts poorly, the dynamic qualities of the car decrease, oil consumption and its release through the valve cover increase.
